Ampleforth College Golf Course
The Ampleforth College Golf course is located in the nearby village of Gilling East. It is a picturesque nine hole 'pay and play' course which is open to the public.
The original course was constructed in 1960 by the College with the advice of the golf professional at Strensall for the sole use of the College and the Community. The first records of the Golf Club date from around 1972, when Frank Amies, the then licensee at the Fairfax Arms, negotiated an arrangement with Ampleforth College for the local people to use the college course at Gilling Castle.
Enjoy a full day for £15 or £10 for 9 holes. You can wear what you like as long as it’s fairly tidy and your shoes won’t harm the greens or slip on the slopes (trainers are fine in dry weather). Please don’t share a golf bag - the club have some spare bags you can borrow.
Please check the calendar for club events, and please give way to college pupils in afternoon games periods.
