National Cycling Championships are Coming to the Valley
Ampleforth Abbey and College are delighted to be helping this year's National Elite and Under 23 Women and Men's Road Race Championships on Sunday 24th June. The change of venue enables the organisers to produce two distinct circuits to pass through the grounds.
Rider Information
The event will be hosted at Ampleforth Abbey from where at 9.15am the women take to the road for seven laps of a rolling 9.5 mile circuit.
After lunch the Men take their turn with three laps of an 18.9 mile loop of picturesque villages and Abbeys before moving to the 9.5 mile circuit for 6 laps.
Each circuit passes through Ampleforth Abbey where an event village will offer trade stands and the opportunity to try a Watt Bike Challenge.
The Men's Championship will incorporate the traditional Peter Longbottom Memorial in honour of the former international who lived at nearby Malton.
